Live Music Calendar – January 24-30

I will never again describe any week in New Orleans as a “slow week” for live music after eating those words all weekend long. Soul Rebels at Le Bon Temps Roule on Thursday, a wildly enjoyable Radiators show on Friday at Tipitina’s, and a head exploder epic Anders Osborne power display at Howlin’ Wolf (which was free to boot) reinforced my appreciation once again to be able to exist in such a place. This week on paper looks even better than the last, and I couldn’t be much more excited than to see my first Yo La Tengo concert on Saturday. There are even two great shows to choose from on Monday (a rarity). Some great variety here, with classic punk (NOFX), rap (Cool Kids), flavor-of-the-month blogosphere indie darlings (Wavves and Best Coast), and a jam supergroup (Garage A Trois), almost everything is covered. Here are my concert picks for the week:
