Just Announced: Band of Horses @ Tipitina’s – April 6th

Turns out that corner venue down on Napoleon and Tchoup will stay buzzing long after the Mardi Gras hangover subsides. Tipitina’s has just announced that Band of Horses will be playing on Wednesday, April 6th at 9 p.m. The opening act is T.B.A. but I expect it to be a good one as well. BoH is undoubtedly one of the biggest national acts to come to the venue since Phoenix came through in October ’09. Therefore, it would be wise to snatch up tickets ($25) when they go on-sale this Friday, 2/4/11. Band of Horses are a South Carolina-based indie (whatever that label is supposed to mean) rock band often compared to My Morning Jacket and Iron & Wine, from the long litany of acts following in the giant footsteps of the great Neil Young. If you haven’t heard the band, start with their first album Everything All The Time, it’s delivers catharsis in spades and was undoubtedly one of Sub Pop’s best releases of the last decade.
