Hogs for the Cause @ City Pork

Tomorrow, from noon until the Radiators wrap their set (probably around 10), City Park will be taken over by the all-of-the-sudden large-scale 3rd Annual Hogs for the Cause benefit. The event raises money to help a family struggling with the financial burdens of taking care of a child with brain cancer.

After last year’s event at The Fly was an overwhelming success (raising $30,000), the 2011 edition has moved down to City Park and, in addition to the 45 teams competing, has become a one-day music festival with an impressive array of talent playing throughout the day including Mississippi Rail Company, Honey Island Swamp Band, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Cajun Fiddle Queen Amanda Shaw, Anders Osborne, and the legendary Radiators to round out what is sure to be an amazing event for a great cause.

A few helpful items from the web site –

NO outside food and drink may be brought in to the event.
Blankets and chairs are welcome.
Pets are welcome as well, but not encouraged.

Also, the weather forecast calls for sunny skies, a high of 85 and only a 20% chance of rain, excellence.

Event Location

The new location is in “City Pork” near the rugby fields at the zenith of Zachary Taylor Dr and Magnolia Dr., Nola 70124. Parking won’t be a problem but you are encouraged to use the streetcar or ride your bike.
