Is this gonna be like a Musical Story?

After having to cancel a couple NOLA shows last February while bassist David Murphy recovered from cancer, the band has made good on their promise to make a speedy return to the Big Easy, announcing an early-November 2-night run down on Decatur at the tail end of a lengthy Fall Tour. Following Murphy’s winter battle, STS9 made a swift return to the road for a scattering of spring stops and have hit the Hangout, Summer Camp, Wakarusa, Bonnaroo (see video below) and thrown down their own RE: GENERATION festival thus far this summer. Although they had fallen out of favor with me personally over the last few years, their late, late show at Bonnaroo this year really re-piqued my interest in the band, after walking up to the set and seeing a return to the organic jazz improv sound that made me a diehard fan for a few years (especially during the always transcendent “Move My Peeps“). Earlier this week, the band announced their first proper headlining tour in a year and this Thursday > Friday 2-nighter will go down the week following Voodoo. Should be a spacey, weird ole time.
