You’ve come a long long way Voodoo/I have to praise you like I should

Grammy-winning beatmaster Fatboy Slim has been added to the Voodoo Experience lineup, adding to the grab bag of artists dotting the upper echelon of the festival bill. To Voodoo’s credit, for better or worse, this lineup shares almost zero similarities with the juggernauts of the festival world (Bonnaroo, Coachella, ACL and Lollapalooza), who’s lineups have slowly begun to coalesce into one incestuous and amorphous blob of about 40-60 similar artists sharing bills over the last few years (albeit a mostly impressive blob). The likes of Fatboy Slim, Soundgarden, Blink 182, My Chemical Romance, Cheap Trick (? – seriously how did they end up on the lineup and seriously, why am I kind of excited to see them?) Girl Talk, and/or The Raconteurs probably never envisioned meeting at a backstage tent village, but thanks to this year’s lineup, they may just get the chance. Voodoo you never cease to out-random the randomness of Jazz Fest, for that I praise you.

Wherever he is placed, this should be one of the bigger dance parties of the weekend.
