The lovely and talented Gillian Welch passed through Tipitina’s last Thursday, arriving in the Big Easy at the forefront of the of the modern folk/Americana revival, touring in support of her amazing and critically-acclaimed new record The Harrow and the Harvest. Great show, once the morons in the balcony were silenced. Why you pay good money and then talk thru a show, particularly one of a quieter acoustic nature, is beyond me…I guess it’s because you are both rude and clueless.

The 2nd set, in particular, I found especially sublime (and it wasn’t just the pipeload on neutral ground during the break…). Gillian even clogged, which brought the house down! And David Rawlings is incredible, with such beautiful crystaline tone. That was real music made by real people on real instruments made of wood. Magic…
