The Thriller at The Playhouse
A very special event is happening down at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse (inside The Royal Sonesta on Bourbon St) this week. For one, it is a charity event – second, it features two of the city’s greatest horn players in a trumpet battle. Irvin Mayfield vs Kermit Ruffins is the main card. “The Thriller” runs for 5 nights and the bell rings for the first time on Friday night at 7:30pm. The various charities are all local – and Irvin has pledged to match whatever funds are raised throughout the week. So get out there and support local live music and local charities!
