Hangout Fest 2012: Tickets On Sale 11/18

The 3rd Annual Hangout Music Festival is on once again and the Gulf Coast beach fest will take place May 18-20, 2012 at the same Gulf Shores, AL locale. Last year’s lineup included Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Widespread Panic, Flaming Lips and Foo Fighters and the initial major artist lineup announcement for the 2012 edition should be out in the coming weeks. At present the festival has not announced any artists but a limited amount of discounted early-bird tickets for $159 go on sale next Friday, November 18 at 10 a.m. CST. Last year’s event was a sellout at 35,000 capacity and a resounding success overall. Festival organizers have said they will not expand beyond last year’s capacity and therefore it is safe to bet on another sellout in 2012 regardless of the quality of the lineup (in much the same way ACL now sells out yearly prior to the artists announcement). Either way, this is a festival that now has a lot to live up to on a yearly basis, having vaulted itself into rarefied territory on the major festival landscape alongside the juggernauts. The only difference between the Hangout and the megafests is that this one is half the capacity and on the beach.
