PHOTOS: 2nd Annual Fess Fest @ Tipitina’s – 12/18/11

The 2nd Annual Fess Fest at Tipitina’s was a “Celebration of the Life and Music of Professor Longhair” that featured an impressive cast of players young and old paying homage. For nearly 6 hours, a revolving door of local musicians and world-renowned legends of the ivory took to the stage to offer a mix of Fess classics and a sampling of their own original songs. Appearances by Dr. John and the Lower 911 for a mini-set and Allen Toussaint for a solo, medley-heavy performance highlighted this indescribably great night of music at Tipitina’s Uptown. The best part of the show: it was all for the great cause of supporting the continued growth of the Tipitina’s Foundation – who were were auctioning and raffling off some treasures throughout the night. Wesley grew up in coastal Georgia and is a former resident of The Music City and The Big Easy where he helped get LMB NOLA off-the-ground after launching in January 2011.
