Today, Pitchfork.TV released a mini-interview/performance clip of NOLA’s own Queen Diva Big Freedia. Bounce music’s reach continues to grow well beyond the confines of the Crescent City and Freedia’s late night debut next Wednesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live represents Bounce music’s Beatles/Ed Sullivan moment. Its gotta only be a matter of time now before the right stars align, the people of Earth see what’s up with this and bounce officially blows up…right? Is bounce music too different? Too far removed/beneath the beaten path of megastars like Maroon 5 and Pink? Too intense? NSFW? Too subversive to your normal, everyday hip-hop? Would you show this video to your grandmother? Your mother? Would it make the mainstream suits and record execs uncomfortable? Could Big Freedia play SNL? Would a collaboration between Lady Gaga and Big Freedia be the turning point?
