Along with this morning’s news news that Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band would be joining the lineup, Jazz Fest organizers have released the daily lineups for this year’s event. The first Sunday (Boss, Al Green and Janelle Monae) and second Saturday (MMJ, Herbie, Steve Earle, Levon and Mavis, Bounce Shake Down) immediately stick out as the can’t-miss days of the fest, but it looks pretty rock solid across the board with each day offering something worthy of making it to the Fairgrounds to see. With the addition of the Boss today, this year’s fest has to be a major topic when discussing the strongest lineups in the festival’s history. However, after last year’s festival, it’s clear that it doesn’t really matter too much who’s playing as long as there’s a Gospel Tent, ample food offerings and, as a bonus, the weather cooperates. Surely this year’s lineup came at a record-setting expense as far as talent budget goes, but after last year’s overwhelming success and 7 days of sunshine, there’s little question as to whether Quint and Co. can afford it. Fans wishing to see some of the heaviest hitters in the lineups would be wise to get out there early if they desire a good spot at the Acura Stage, as bands like The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Foo Fighters and The Beach Boys have been known to draw a crowd…Stay tuned for late night schedules, coming soon to LMB NOLA.
