Fête de la Musique benefit to feature Galactic, Shamarr Allen and More
A new French public charter school has opened in Louisiana, serving Pre-K3 through 12th grade, and they’ll be starting things off right, with a cross-cultural, multi-artist celebration of the music and food of New Orleans and France on March 11th. Lycée Français de la Nouvelle Orléans (LFNO) proudly presents Fête de la Musique, an evening of French and New Orleans music, food, and revelry at Generations Hall. All funds raised at Fête de la Musique go directly to LFNO so that a first rate bilingual education can be offered to Louisiana children of all backgrounds.
Fête de la Musique premieres at Generations Hall on Sunday, March, 11th beginning at 7pm. The All-Star lineup will be headlined by New Orleans funk superstars Galactic, fresh off the release of their amazing new album Carnivale Electricos and another epic Mardi Gras run at Tipitina’s. Shamarr Allen & the Underdawgs, Meschiya Lake & the Little Big horns, and cellist Helen Gillet (who absolutely mesmerized us at Le Chat Noir a couple weeks ago opening for New Orleans Bingo! Show) round out what should be an brilliant night of music for a great cause. Garland Robinette, renowned artist and longtime voice of New Orleans television and radio, will be the Master of Ceremonies, as can-can dancers, acoustic musicians, and opera singers mingle among the partygoers.
The patron party begins at 5:30 PM and will feature Dr. Michael White & the Original Liberty Jazz Band and local burlesque troupe Fleur de Tease, aerialists Lorelei Ashe and Amy Tracey of Gravity Defying Fitness and marching krewe The Sirens. Additionally, French hors d’ouevres from Chef Jacques of Château du Lac Bistro will be served, and an open bar and private viewing area will be provided for VIP holders. Tickets for the VIP viewing experience (including patron party and concert) are $125. Front row VIP tables seating ten are also available for $1500. General Admission concert tickets are $25 in advance, and $35 at the door. Patrons will have access to a cash bar and tasting portions from some of New Orleans’ finest French restaurants will be available for purchase.
